If I bought a tandem bike can I …?

I am looking into purchasing a tandem bike for my husband and I , you know, those two seater ones. We had a blast renting bikes in Wildwood NJ, but there we got seperate ones and my husband had one with a child seat in the back so our three year old can ride with us. My question is can i put a child seat on the back of a tandem double seated bike the same way as a single bike? Thanks
