Asher asked:
How do the pedaling systems work on tandem recumbent bikes? im designing a custom tandem recumbent bike for a mom and her child with downs syndrome. the child has to be able to pedal, but not at all times. i would assume that all tandem recumbents are made so both riders don't always have to be pedaling. is this so? if so, anyone have anywhere i can get information on how it all works?
Reply:
On a standard tandem - upright or recumbent - both riders pedal buy amoxicillin without prescription all the time as the pedals are connected via a timing chain. There are several tandems currently produced that allow independent pedaling (see links). One is a half-recumbent, the other is a standard upright tandem. Both employ a second freewheel in the drive-train. I am sure this type of system could be copied for your purposes.
